Pure as Snow

Pure as Snow

Me: *Points to area on white shirt.*

Me: “But what about this spot?”

God: “I don’t see anything.”

Me: *Points to new area on shirt*

Me: “What about this dirty stain? This one has to be the worst yet.”

God: “I see you pure as snow. Why do you keep searching for old stains that aren’t there anymore?”

Me: “I remember them…are they always to haunt me?”

God: “Were you not forgiven? Was My Son’s sacrifice not enough for you?”

Me: “I know it should be, but the bullies of past…their words feel like words etched deeper than the shirt. Like I am always to see myself through their eyes.”

God: “You have put much in man’s opinion of you…find your identity in Me. Every time you remember the hurts & the pains, remember Me. Every time you remember the wrongs done unto you or even your own wrongdoings, remember Me…”

Me: *Stops searching for the marks of the past and focuses on God.*

God: “…every time you feel like searching your pure white shirt, remember that it was bestowed upon you. Remember that I have given you the greatest stain remover, an eternal one…lasting forever…remember Me.”

Bitter or Better?

Bitter or Better?

There once were two girls who walked down a tree-laden path. One day, a couple bullies were hiding in some fruit trees, waiting for the girls to come near.

The mean kids threw the freshly-picked oranges at the girls’ heads. Sadly, their aim was true, causing the girls to fall backwards at the fruit-flavored impact. Bruised and battered with a few scrapes here and there, Girl #1 bent down to help up Girl #2. They then grabbed the fruity weapons, but alas the bullies had already come and gone.

Talk about a “hit and run.”

Girl #1 brushed off the fruit and began peeling it. “At least we got something positive out of the dastardly thing that happened to us.”

Girl #2 did not respond but the scowl on her face was evidence of her anger. She too brushed off her orange, but instead of eating the fruit, she partook of the peel. Bitterness filled her mouth…her whole being. All she could see was the peel, causing the sweet/positive fruit to become discarded.

Girl #1 was ready to move on due to not holding onto the bitterness; however, Girl #2 began to see the world in the most pessimistic way…just waiting for someone to throw something at her again. Because of her suspiciousness, she drove the possibility of more friendships away. She even turned against Girl #1, taking out her past frustrations on her…

Girl #2 couldn’t fathom how her friend could be so happy after being so hurt. One day she asked her, “Why do you continuously seem to be happy after each bully threatens to steal your joy away?”

Girl #1 smiled, and responded with, “Remember when you and I were hit with oranges?” seeing her friend nod she continued, “Well, if you recall, I ate of the fruit. It was sweet and reminded me that there will always be a positive found within a negative circumstance. Sometimes you have to look deep for it (like past the peel of the orange) and it will be there.”

Girl #2 wanted the happiness so much, that she gave up her eating of the bitter peel and dove deeper into what could fill her true hunger in life. She began to partake of the sweetness in life. It took some time, but the bitterness went away as she became full on the fruit’s happiness.

In conclusion, we all have the choice to be Girl #1 or Girl #2…which part of the fruit will you eat?

Needy Vs. in Need

Needy Vs. in Need

We can do Godly things for people, but we should not become “God” to them.  There is one God and He is the only One who can truly supply every one of our needs.

Yes, there are needy people, but there are true people in need.

People in Need:

  • Rarely ask for help.
  • Are gracious for your help.
  • Don’t expect items, money, gifts, time, etc. from you.
  • Are usually wanting to reciprocate the kindness in some way.
  • I have noticed that these are the people that you feel drawn to. Like God has put something on your heart to help them.
  • Do not always appear like they are in need…but like I stated on the previous bullet, you feel drawn towards them. God usually tells you what they need.

Needy People:

  • Demand things from you.
  • Expect you to give money, clothes, anything that they see around your house.
  • Expect you to come to them at the “drop of a hat.”
  • Want you to take care of them when they are unwilling to take care of themselves.
  • Usually use “guilt” to get want they want.
  • I have noticed that this type of person will use you and abuse you.

By becoming God to the needy people, we are trying to supply their every need. Whether it is physically being there (helping with deeds around the house, etc.), supporting them financially, or even supporting them emotionally. We can be there for them, to some extent, but we cannot always be there. That is God’s place.

Example:

  • If we did try to take God’s place and supply their every need…what purpose would they need the one true God for? By being overly giving to the needy person, we could become a stumbling block to their walk with God.

o   I don’t know about you, but I have found God in the darkest times of my life; when He was the only One that could supply my needs. If someone stepped in and took that place, would I have found God on such a substantial level?

Discerning when it is time to lend a hand or point them to the direction of God.

  1. Sit down and pray about the situation (It’s time to use that “walking and talking relationship with God”).
  2. Remember, God doesn’t condone guilt. It doesn’t come from Him(Paul).
  3. Don’t let people guilt you into giving.
  4. When you have that urge from God to give to a certain person at a certain time, do it. You will never know what giving to someone feels like until you do it with God’s guidance.

Have a good day, brothers and sisters, and may we never stop learning and listening in our walking/talking relationship with God.

The Domino Effect

19764690_1487912461230214_5876767583197200384_n

Look at the dominoes in this picture. Now imagine each domino is a person who has been hurt by another (the pieces, one-by-one, knocking into each other). We have a choice to either let the hurt be harvested and continue on by pushing our neighbor down…or we can rise above the hurt and chose to let the vicious cycle end with us.

It’s our choice (and what a difficult choice it is).

Bitter or Better?

The Girl in the Meadow

The Girl in the Meadow

The soft tendrils of the meadow flowers glided through her fingers as she made her way through thought-provoking valleys.
Which way to turn?
Which way to go?
She had lost her way in such beauty. The breeze caressed her hair with care…a voice on the wind’s tongue called her. She could not stop; could not wait for those calling behind her…for they did not see what she saw…for where her vision grasped the beauty…others only saw weeds…where she saw hope…others envisioned a desert of darkness.

Not to fear (for the unseeing ones) for she once did not see what she grasps in her vision now…not too long ago she saw darkness and despair. It wasn’t until she called out for help…that a wind with a whisper came a response and a call to take action. As a pounding tremor in her chest grew, she made her way through thick forests of doubt. Trees grasped at her; trying to plant their seeds of fear and death in her mind.
The path grew more precarious and the dread covered her like an old, ratty cloak.
“Help, I cannot do this alone!”
“I am here dear one, listen to My voice. Shed your doubtful cloak and do not water the seeds anymore. Let us destroy the lies with truth. Get up and follow me.”

As she followed the wind, the voice became clearer and began to permeate a shield throughout her. She continues walking and following the voice to this day.

God gave me an image of the girl in the meadow. This girl resembled me but was much stronger on leaning on the “whispering wind” that guided her, than I was with following God.
After I saw this picture, God told me these simple but powerful words: “Keep Running.” I did not name this girl because “she” can be any of us.

“Let us run the race set before us…”

Water Walker

Water Walker

I walked toward the water’s edge and gazed at the rapids before me. There were words spoken and carried by the mist of the waves; calling me by a name that was me but so much more. A single word that expressed every detail of who I was and who I am in Christ.
I knew it was the One whom my soul loved. Nothing could stand between us; all I had to do was focus on the voice and step onto the damp terrain. Just put one foot in front of the other, but; alas, the beasts of the sea reminded me of the depths and terrors below.
“You can’t do this.”
“The waters will gobble you up.”
“The voice you heard was a figment of your imagination.”

I couldn’t do it.

A better idea sprung into my crammed-packed consciousness.
“I will build stepping stones to my destination!”
Days turned into weeks and weeks into months, until I realized that the voice that was calling me had been drowned out by my focus of building each strong stone being supported by beams plunged into the deep. Not only had I barely made a dent in my destination, but I was building my stone pathway in the wrong direction!
Down and depressed on the failure I had become, there came a small voice once again…”Come to Me…”
I had enough of trying on my own, so I stepped onto the water and walked towards a man at the end of a tumultuous wet path. The first part of the walk was steady but after a few moments, I began to sink in fear of my surroundings. Waves threatened to pull me deeper, but then a hand appeared. With all my might, I clung to the hand and was pulled above the surface. The Man spoke to me without using his mouth…He was speaking through His spirit.

“Walk with Me and you shall never hunger…you shall never thirst…you shall never be in want…I am with you always…”

I have been walking with my Friend, Jesus, ever since.

Valley👉Hill👉Mountain

Valley👉Hill👉Mountain

In Valleys, In Hills, In Glorious Mountains

By: Nicole K.

The battles you are fighting are never small
For you must practice climbing hills before mountains so tall
From far away the high cliffs look scary and steep
But as you take the first step, you realize you are no longer weak
Now, it seems more possible to accomplish what you once desired
Facing your fear; walking away from the eternal fire
Strengthen your legs as you follow Him
By starting in the valley and hills that lead to the mountain
Do not feel the failure when you trip and fall
For the One who is with you can and will heal all
The high cliffs are just the beginning of earth’s end
There is yet a greater journey just around the bend
Where sorrow and tears will flow no more
As we stand in front of heaven’s open doors
So, let us start this adventure that is ahead
And follow the One who died for us and freely bled
